# Ask Your Sheet > Ask a CSV or Excel spreadsheet a question in plain English and get the SQL, a result table and a chart. The page reads > the file and runs the SQL in the browser, so the rows never leave it; only the schema (and, if the person allows it, value > ranges, category names and five sample rows) goes to the model. No API key is needed - each question is paid with > SkillSafe credits. https://ask-your-sheet.skillsafe.ai/ ## What is free - Reading CSV, TSV, JSON and .xlsx files (every visible sheet becomes a table), or pasted cells. - Typing and profiling every column: number, date, timestamp, true/false or text; empties, distinct counts, ranges, top values. - An in-browser SQL engine: WITH, joins, GROUP BY, HAVING, QUALIFY, window functions (rankings, running totals, moving averages), UNION, CASE, date functions and intervals. Edit and re-run any SQL as often as you like. - Charts drawn from the real result (bar, horizontal bar, line, area, scatter, pie, big number), with type and axes you can change; SVG and PNG download. - Result CSV, Markdown and JSON exports; three invented sample datasets whose sample questions replay free. ## The metered lanes Two tasks on gpt-terra, metered per run, routed by `task`. Input string fields: `task` (ask or fix), `question`, `schema`, `samples`, `context` (a previous question and its SQL) and `error` (fix only). - `ask` turns a question into one read-only SQL query plus a chart suggestion, an explanation, assumptions and follow-up questions - or says, in `cannot`, why the columns cannot answer it. - `fix` repairs SQL that failed in the page's engine, given the engine's error, and says what changed in `fixed`. The page checks every reply against the loaded tables (unknown tables or columns, SQL that does not parse) and runs it locally before showing a result. ## Links - API tutorial: https://ask-your-sheet.skillsafe.ai/api.html
